The comedy king of Tamil cinema — Vadivelu

This post will be a treat for Tamil comedy lovers, as it's about the legendary Tamil comedian, Vadivelu. He's the king of Tamil comedy. Now, he has become a God-like figure for meme creators.


So, let's start off by looking at Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu's career. 

Vadivelu's first movie was T. Rajendar's Yen Thangai Kalyani (1988) in which he played a small role. His next film was En Rasavin Manasile (1991), directed by Kasthuri Raja. Actor Vijayakanth supported Vadivelu during his early career and Vadivelu was casted in Chinna Gounder (1991) in which Vijayakanth played the lead role. Then in 1992, he acted in two of Kamal Haasan's films - Singaravelan & Thevar Magan. 

Vadivelu's first solo came in Kadhalan (1994), directed by Shankar. He played the friend of Prabu Deva in Kadhalan.

He won his first Tamil Nadu state film award for the best comedian for the film Kaalam Maari Pochu (1996).

This is how our favourite comedian's career started, and he went on to play a number of roles alongside all the top actors of Tamil cinema.

Vadivelu has acted in 15-20 movies in a year in the late 90's! His peak was during the mid 2000's. 

One of his biggest blockbuster hits in which he played the lead role was Imsai Arasan 23-aam Pulikesi (2006). 

Usually, Vadivelu's comedy scenes end with him being beaten up or thrashed, and with funny one-liners. 

Here are some of Vadivelu's famous one-liners:

• "Vandhutaanyaa, vandhutaanyaa!"

• "Yenna vechi comedy geemadi pannalayey?"

• "Aaahaan"

• "Varum.. aana varadhu"

• "Why blood? Same blood"

• "Vada pochey!"

• "Venaam valikkudhu.. azhudhuruven"

• "Ippovey kanna kattudheyy"

• "Avanaa nee?!"

• "Maapu.. vachitaanga da aapu!"

• "Sinngg in the rayn, I yam sinngg in the rayn~ I want moare in the rayn"

The classic Tamil comedy duo — Goundamani & Senthil

Hello! Welcome back. Sukriti AD here. This post is about the iconic Tamil comedy duo — Goundamani & Senthil. It's all smiles when we hear these two names, right? T hey have never failed to entertain us. In fact, this duo is known as 'Laurel and Hardy of Tamil cinema'. Both Goundamani and Senthil have a strong theatrical background.
